ABIRAC Contemporary foundation launch
I am pleased to announce that I have joined ABIRAC Contemporary Foundation, a new platform dedicated to Caribbean contemporary art and cultural practice, working across exhibitions, curatorial projects, and international collaborations.
This aligns closely with my own practice, rooted in contemporary art and shaped by a focus on Caribbean narratives and cross-cultural exchange.
The Foundation will launch tomorrow in Venice on the occasion of the 61th Venice Biennale with a panel discussion bringing together leading artists and cultural practitioners from the global Caribbean art scene.
Moderator: Professor Paul Godwin

“Our Boats Are Open: Reclaiming Art Narratives of the Caribbean”
The discussion reflects on the expansiveness of Caribbean identity in the context of historical trauma and displacement. Drawing on Édouard Glissant’s concept of the Caribbean as “open boats” following the Middle Passage, it considers how contemporary artistic practices continue to redefine narrative, memory, and cultural agency across the region and its diaspora.
I look forward to contributing to the foundation and to continuing to help develop projects that engage with these themes across different contexts and collaborations.
